"Habab has been tutoring my 9 year old son for his 11+. She is extremely professional and has a wonderfully positive way of making the lessons fun. My son is always excited going to his lessons, which is a great compliment to Habab’s talent as a tutor. Highly recommended."

Competition to gain a grammar school place has never been tougher with more than 10 students sitting the exam for every place available. The My Own Tutor Manchester team has worked to develop a rigorous 11 plus course with resources designed to teach all aspects of the 11 plus from the basics to the highly advanced. Challenging, supportive and offering lots of opportunity for practice and drill, these resources will support your child to achieve their full potential.

Year 4

Entry in Year 4 gives students more time to practice and embed many of the skills in preparation for our challenging 11 plus course, delivered in Year 5. We will teach your child the necessary skills and help them to develop and embed these skills so that they can excel in preparation for the exam at the beginning of Year 6. We use the My Own Tutor method to ensure that your child is performing at an advanced standard and ready for our rigorous course in Year 5.

Year 5

Our 11 plus course teaches and embeds the key skills and knowledge required to pass the 11 plus. We teach every aspect (Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English) using high quality printable resources that your child can also use for revision closer to the exam.

The Year 5 course consists of 40 lessons with built-in opportunities for timed mock exams because we recognise that the 11 plus exam is not just about academic development for your child but also, consistent timed exam practice. We have built this into our course to ensure your child performs at his or her best on exam day.

We focus on the CEM exam for the Trafford Consortium Schools:

  • Altrincham Grammar School for Girls (174 places)

  • Sale Grammar School (180 places)

  • Stretford Grammar School (160 places)

  • Urmston Grammar School (150 places)
